RACE HISTORY

Since its inception in 1996, the Wakefield Hospice 10K Road Race has proudly hosted the Wakefield Harriers 10K Club Championship, making it a cornerstone event in our road running calendar.

Over the years, the course has evolved, making direct time comparisons difficult. However, standout performances remain part of our club’s proud history. The fastest times recorded by Wakefield Harriers are:

  • Mark Bostock – 31:16 in 2022
  • Penny Thackray – 33:40 in 2001

Penny Thackray and Helen Singleton have each claimed the women’s title five times, while Chris Price leads the men with four victories, followed by Craig Heppenstall with three. Notably, Penny Thackray (2000) and Julie Briscoe (2008) were the first Harriers to finish overall, ahead of all male club runners — an incredible achievement!
